Authorship

This document is part of a series from the UK Research Integrity Office providing guidance on particular aspects of academic, scientific and medical research. It emphasises good practice in the authorship of research publications. This guidance covers issues relevant to all disciplines of research however it does not provide a ‘one-sized-fits-all approach’. The aim of the guidance is to highlight particular challenges relating to authorship and to foster discussion on what might constitute good practice in this fundamentally important part of the research process.

Research organisations will be able to use this guidance to raise awareness of the practicalities of good authorship practices, and also as material for staff and student development and training.

Creative communication tools can bring research findings to a wider audience

We are increasingly recognising that most evidence users do not have the time and capacity to read and understand research papers. Besides, research is often behind paywalls and inaccessible. As a research community, we need to do much more to communicate our research effectively. Find out more here.
