Communications Strategy lift off
We have a new Communications Strategy for the NIHR.
One which sets the direction of travel for the next 3 years. One which we will use as the roadmap to help us deliver our vision. One which sets out an ambitious programme of change and transformation around our brand, our approach to audience, our content – and much more besides.
We are determined to deliver to our vision of becoming ‘an outcomes-focused, fully integrated NIHR communications function, elevating a cohesive and impactful single NIHR brand’.
This will happen if we work together as closely as possible, with our strategic communications framework providing the glue to help us all deliver. “Only if we truly do become more than the sum of our parts can we ensure the strongest spotlight is shone on the life-changing work of the NIHR. For the health and wealth of the nation.” Jen Walters, NIHR Director of Communications.
Thank you!

Narrative, narrative, narrative
We now also have one set of core messaging for the NIHR, providing the foundations for our written communications. This messaging framework encompasses all parts of the NIHR and includes:
our ‘topline positioning statement’
short and longer descriptive narrative
key messages
accompanying statistics (proof points)
Please familiarise yourselves with it and utilise the messaging as much as possible in your day-to-day interactions and communications. The more aligned our messages are about NIHR, the more cut-through we will have.
Updated NIHR slide decks for all
Our new NIHR messaging can be accessed in an updated set of core slides, which are available for everybody to use. Please contact the NIHR Content Delivery Team (alice.ford@nihr.ac.uk) if you have any queries.
