In England, the pre-election restrictions began on Thursday 16 April 2026. This means that the civil service, government departments and government-adjacent organisations such as the NIHR, are subject to some pre-election period restrictions to ensure that the elections are fair, and not subject to any accusations that communications have been used to influence voting intentions towards (or against) any party.
