External researchers attached to other universities or institutes can use our facility through the following two systems:
1. NIBB Collaborative Research Program
- Equipment: All items in our facility (Okazaki Large Spectrograph, Microscopes, Behavior analyzer)
- Researchers: Researchers who belong to other universities or institutes (application and approval are required)
- Other: Travel expenses within Japan can be paid.
Caution: You will need to replace your travel and lodging expenses once you have paid for them yourself. We will pay you later.
2. ABiS (Advanced Bioimaging Support)
- Equipment: Microscopes, micro X-ray CT
- Researchers: Researchers who are supported by KAKENHI (Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research)
Request for Publication and Acknowledgement
We request that you publish the work using our facility in the form of a peer-reviewed paper as soon as possible.
All works published that include results obtained using the SBI equipment must be acknowledged and a copy of the publication should be sent as paper or pdf to the facility.

Information on the Accommodation Facilities for Researchers
The Accommodation Facilities for Researchers attached to the institute are available for NIBB collaborative researchers and ABiS collaborative researchers.
How to use the Accommodation Facilities for Researchers
1. Payment
You can choose from the following three ways:
① web-based pre-payment
②credit card payment on the day of visit
③cash payment on the day of visit.
Please choose ①web-based pre-payment as much as possible and email us at least 2 weeks prior to your stay because it takes about 2 weeks to process the payment.
2. How to receive your room key
You can receive your room key at the guardroom near the main entrance from 13:00 on the day of your stay.
There is no manager at the Accommodation Facilities.

The applications are submitted from November to early December of the previous fiscal year. In addition, you can apply at any time during the year until the end of October, however, it takes two months from application to approval.

Normally, applications are accepted twice a year in the first half (around May to June) and the second half (around October to November). However, applications are also accepted outside the open period.
