It is a collaborative research facility of the National Institute for Basic Biology, which is an inter-university research institute, and provides researchers with research equipment and devices with the keyword "light and biology".
Specifically, we have bioimaging equipment(microscopes, etc. and image analysis)and Okazaki Large Spectrograph (OLS) which is the world's largest spectrograph. We actively support not only equipment use but also academic support.
Researchers at universities and research institutes, do you have any problems like these?
・Reviewers requests a higher resolution micrograph, but your university does not have such the equipment.
・You want to quantify protein expression by imaging, but you do not have the know-how.
・You are not sure if the imaging analysis methods you are doing now is correct.
We can support the use of equipment at NIBB and consultation with researchers in a wide range of fields.

Bioimaging has become an essential tool in modern biology. On the other hand, microscopes have become more complex and multifunctional, requiring specialized knowledge to handle them. The quantitative data also requires expertise in optics and image analysis. Therefore we offer training courses to provide the know-how for microscope image acquisition, and we also collaborate with specialists for special microscopes and image analysis. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about imaging.
Bioimaging Forum and Workshop are held in only Japanese.
