Transition to Level 0 COVID-19 Prevention Restrictions

The restriction level on research activities at NIBB, NIPS, IMS, and ExCELLS was changed from Level 0.5 to Level 0 from May 8, 2023. Research Guidelines Aimed at Preventing the COVID-19 Outbreaks Within the National Institute for Natural Sciences (NIBB, NIPS, IMS, and EXCELLS)
To Collaborative Researchers (updated May 8, 2023)
We are continuing to accept visitors from all over Japan for collaborative research and ABiS.
We also provide remote research support (remote experiments, online meetings, etc.), so please contact our facility (see "Research Support by Remote Experiments and Online Meetings" added on March 23, 2021).
Requests before your visit
Please consult with us in advance when planning a visit.
If you are planning a visit, please consult with our facility in advance. First, please check the activity restriction guidelines of your organization and obtain permission from the person who has the authority to grant travel permission. If you are visiting from an area subject to a declaration of emergency (including a municipality's own declaration) or from an area with a large number of infected people per population, we will consider the urgency and necessity of your visit, and whether or not it is possible to prevent infection during the experiment. We ask for your understanding.
Requests when visiting
Please consider postponement if you feel unwell such as fever.
You must wear a pass and a mask to enter the premises.
Upon arrival, please go to the guard's room at the main gate and fill out the entry form and health check form. Request for taking a screening questionnaire before entering the Okazaki 3 Institutes or ExCELLSYou will be issued a visitor's card, which you must wear on the grounds. Please take the health confirmation form with you and submit it to the security guard's office when you leave.
We will ask you about your physical condition every morning during your stay, so please understand that. If you are a representative, please ask the dispatched/ fellow researcher (including university students and graduate students) to know their physical condition.
Please use the thermometer (non-contact type), which is installed in room B64 of the Optics and Imaging Facility.
If you feel unwell while staying at the lodge, please wait in the room where you are staying and contact us.
For research activities on campus, please wear a mask and consider 3Cs.
When you enter our facility, please disinfect your hands with ethanol.
<Research Support by Remote Experiments and Online Meetings> added on March 23, 2021
If you are unable to come to our facility, you can send us your samples and our staff will conduct the experiment remotely, sharing the observation screen with you via Zoom. If you have already established an experimental system to some extent, we will consider whether it is possible to conduct the experiment with our staff's support.
In the case of using the WS installed in our facility, some software can be used by remote access. If you want to use image analysis software, please contact us.
Online meetings are always available. Please feel free to contact us if you need to discuss your research project.
To Researchers in NIBB, NIPS, IMS, and ExCELLS
No PI permission is required. (level 0)
The use of the equipment for the first time will be resumed subject to wearing a mask. If you would like to use it for the first time, please contact the person in charge by email in advance. However, we do not allow lectures on how to operate for those who have symptoms of poor physical condition such as fever.
Before entering the facility, please wear a mask and disinfect your hands and fingers with ethanol.
If you have a fever or feel poor physical condition, please don’t use any equipment in OIF.
If you have a fever within a few days after you use our equipment in OIF, please let us know. In that case, we are going to disinfect the equipment you used and the room you entered.
