1st Graders worked together to sort different shapes into groups of shapes that go together. 1st Graders discussed the different groups the shapes could belong to and labeled their groups. Some of the characteristics 1st Graders noticed were whether a shape had straight sides, curved sides, and the number of sides and corners.
Lucas and Sydney sorted their shapes into the following groups: shapes with zero corners, shapes with 4 corners, shapes with 3 corners, shapes with 6 corners, and shapes with 2 corners.
Lyla and Leona sorted their shapes into the following groups: shapes with 3 corners, shapes with 4 corners, curved shapes, and a shape with 6 corners.
Dominic and Henry sorted their shapes into the following groups: shapes with 3 corners, circular shapes, shapes with 4 sides, and shapes with 6 corners.
Kennedy and Sam sorted their shapes into the following groups: shapes with 3 corners, shapes with zero corners, shapes with 4 corners, shapes with 2 corners, and shapes that can make each other.
