May Update: This month is about linear equations. We have just completed our Integer unit and now we will apply that knowledge for linear equations. First we will take a look at what are linear relations and then move onto solving linear equations.

April Update: We have completed our volume unit! Up next is learning about how to represent data with graphs. Our main focus will be choosing what graph best represents the data and how to decipher distorted and/or skewed graphs . This will be a fairly quick chapter. Next is Chapter 8: Integers. Students will work with positive and negative numbers including fractions to add, subtract, multiple and divided.

March Update: We have completed our Surface area unit and are now using those skills to help us understand and evaluate volume.

February Update: We have finished the Pythagorean relationship chapter. Next we can apply that knowledge into Surface Area and Volume. Students will learn how to calculate the surface area and volume of 3D objects. We will explore various 3D shapes and their nets to help develop students understanding of 3D objects.

January Update: Starting the year off with a quick review of probability and fractions. Then we are angling right into Pythagorean Theorem. Students will first explore perfect squares and their square roots. Then we work towards applying Pythagorean to solve for unknown side lengths.

December Update: We have just wrapped up the fractions Unit with a test. Students have been working on becoming masters at order of operations with fractions.  Next our Probability unit will kick off and wrap up prior to the winter break. Students will be working towards determining the outcome of 2 or more independent events and solving problems involving probability.

November Update: We are continuing our fraction unit. Students are working on multiplying/dividing fractions, mixed numbers and improper fractions. We will be working towards using fractions with order of operations. Students have been practicing cross reducing, converting mixed and improper fractions, lowest terms, common denominators and math operations.

October Update: This month is all about percentage and fractions. Our percent unit will be wrapped up early Oct. and we will be diving into fraction operations afterwards. Fraction unit can traditional be a bit tough, so your student may be coming home with some extra practice. Our main goal will be multiplying and dividing fractions, mixed numbers and improper fractions.

What's the difference between a numerator and a denominator? A thin line

September Update: We are kicking the year off with Ratios, Rates and Proportions! Students will work on balancing proportions and understanding how various rates and ratios work. At the end of the month we will be moving onto Percent.
