ELA7L NEWS:
Hello Everyone! Here is the information and details for what we are learning in ELA7L in the new year:
To start off the year we will be re-establishing routines (silent reading, grammar, journal writing) and creating written works using prompts and our imagination. Students will practice planning well-researched essay planning and writing.
Amazing job from all of the grade 7L class on their Indigenous Art Projects and all of their well-written Statements of Acknowledgements. Some examples are above.
We are currently starting our unit on 'The Outsiders'! We are going to learn about identity, class, loyalty, empathy, and community. For our end-of-the-unit project, each student will write a well-rounded essay and present it to the class.
Shakespeare and Poetry units to follow.

Drama Option
Drama/Musical Theatre is comprised of 3 major areas of study: vocal production, movement
and acting. Areas of development include vocal technique, choreography, character
development and interpretation and stage presence. Drama is a medium for learning and
teaching all about the human condition.
Dramatic growth happens in an a safe non-competitive, supportive, cooperative, non-
judgmental, fun and challenging environment. The goal of this course is to help grow a positive,
encouraging and imaginative self-concept so as to help the students develop and explore the
human condition and life ‘roles, communicating it through music and the dramatic arts.
We will be using google classroom for all assignments and I encourage students and parents to keep track of all upcoming assignments/projects due dates by using that forum.
