This year in Science we'll be covering the following 5 units in this order:
Cells and Systems
Mix and Flow of Matter
Mechanical Systems
Light and Optical Systems
Fresh and Saltwater Systems
If all goes well, the main Grade 8 field trip will be floating down the North Saskatchewan as part of the RiverWatch program. We'll also be holding a Science Fair this year; more info on that later in the year.
Assessment
A typical Unit’s assessment will consist of unmarked “Quick Quizzes” designed to determine student understanding before formal assessment. Each Unit will also include a Mid-Quiz and a Final Exam that will count towards final marks.
Grades in Science are cumulative and continuously build as the year progresses. Each report card mark will be a reflection of the entire year’s performance.
