Junior High Tech and Technology
Devices and Social Media
Cell phones are not permitted in the classroom. As per the provincial government: A school authority is required to, at a minimum, limit the use of personal mobile devices and restrict access to social media as follows:
Children and students may not use personal mobile devices during instructional time. If children and students have personal mobile devices with them during instructional time, they are required to keep these devices on silent or powered off, and stored out of view; and
Children and students may not access social media on school networks or on school devices. (Alberta Education, 2024)
Artificial Intelligence
It is important that today’s students learn to use artificial intelligence ethically and with discretion. These tools will not be used to complete assignments or replace their own writing. Instead, AI will serve as a resource to support creative thinking, problem-solving, and a deeper understanding of various subjects. It will only be utilized under the explicit direction of the teacher. Our focus is on helping students navigate these new technologies thoughtfully while fostering responsibility and honesty in their academic pursuits.
