Message from Ms. Vigfusson (Sept 2025):

"After gathering valuable feedback from parents, caregivers, students, and staff, it became clear that changes to our Individual Program Plans (IPPs) were needed. We are in a unique situation in which all students require IPPs, and in collaboration with Alberta Education, we will be piloting a new approach to better support student success.

We will begin this pilot with students in Grades 7–9, as they play a significant role in shaping their own goals and strategies at this level. With a focus on students’ strengths, these plans will now be called Advanced Learning Plans (ALPs). While the name is changing, the purpose remains the same — to address each student’s unique needs and support their continued growth.

The ALP format empowers students to take an active role in their learning by setting goals that are personally meaningful. By building on their strengths and monitoring their progress, students will develop essential executive functioning skills and core competencies that prepare them for long-term success. Teachers will continue to actively monitor, accommodate, and support students through these plans. Accommodations will still be provided to ensure that each student’s learning needs are met."
