Scholars engage in robotics programming.
At New Heights, we offer a number of engagement opportunities for scholars to get involved in throughout the school year. We strive to provide meaningful programs that allow scholars the chance to become engaged, involved, or lead an activity they are passionate about.
PSW offers free after-school programming which includes tournaments, sports festivals, trips, recreation leagues, camps, clinics, and events for sporting and recreational programs.
Girls Empowerment Movement (G.E.M.) is a school-based voluntary program in which self-identified girls can engage in weekly open discussions on various topics during their lunch period. G.E.M. sessions are currently separated by grade. While the separation of grade is due to lunch scheduling, all special events, trips, and fundraisers include all participants across all grades.
My Brothers Keeper (MBK) provides a safe environment where young men can bond, collaborate, learn life skills and ways to overcome adversity.
Medgar Evers Science Technology Entry Program (STEP) is a New Heights Collaboration with Medgar Evers College. STEP provides academic enrichment in science and mathematics content areas to scholars.
Peer Group Connection (PGC) is an evidence-based and school-based program that supports and eases students' successful transition to middle school.
Peer Mediation Program (PMP) is a program where scholars are trained in conflict resolution strategies. They use these strategies to help their peers resolve conflicts that can impact learning and personal growth.
Robotics program is in partnership with Play Study Win and focuses on student learning about robots and other technical skills needed in the field of S.T.E.A.M.
Publishing Club is an after school program that offers scholars guidance with the writing, editing and formatting needed for various types of written publications including: magazine articles, novels, poetry and narratives.
Featured Project: The New Heights Scholar Perspective magazine.
The Scholar Leadership Council is a group of elected students working together to increase student voice in school-based affairs and activities. Elections for positions are held every school year.
New Heights Ambassadors is an opportunity for New Heights Scholars to showcase their leadership skills and serve as representatives during special site visits, events, and activities within the community.
