A good way to remember your timetable is to put it into your planner! Your student planner has been designed to help you with learning and day-to- day academy life. It has sections to help you:-
• Record homework set
• Identify any extra equipment you’ll need on a particular day (like cooking ingredients)
• Plan your time
• Review your progress
• Set targets
It also has pages with useful hints and tips as well as subject information like key language phrases and maps of the world. You’ll need to bring your planner to the academy every day and it must be on your desk every lesson. If you have to leave the lesson (to go to the toilet, for example) the teacher will sign your planner.
Homework
In your student planner you’ll be able to write down instructions which your teachers give you about your homework. You will also get lots of helpful advice about how to study and plan your time. Homework is important and useful because it gives you the chance to:-
• Do research on a topic, at home or in the library
• Prepare for the next lesson
• Extend learning
• Develop the skills of an independent learner
Homework might be short tasks or longer projects. You’ll always get an appropriate length of time to complete your homework, depending on the work you’re being asked to do. Homework may be set on online learning platforms, like HegartyMaths.
