FRUIT

Fruit How to grow

With our emphasis on growing and eating local produce, Mecklenburg County Master Gardeners encourage you to plant fruits along with your veggies and to use fruit trees & shrubs as part of your landscape.

You will marvel at the taste that only “freshly picked” can bring to you!

Using the City of Charlotte as the center point, we encounter two climate zones.  Zone 7b ranges from the City north to Iredell County line and Zone 8a runs south to the border of South Carolina.  The Southern Piedmont offers gardeners a wide variety of fruits to grow.

From fruit trees to bramble berries, and from grape vines to groundcover strawberries, you are sure to find a favorite that will grow well in your garden.
