I am currently a full-time student of Northern Arizona University through the MCC cohort in the east valley. I have copious career goals, and they are of a wide variety. My first career goal is, of course, to have a classroom of my own one day. I am passionate about teaching and will always be inspired by the teaching and leading that is accomplished in a classroom setting. My goal and intent are to be a math teacher, and I am completing my student teaching in a Jr. High math class. Living through the pandemic has, naturally, taught us all a plethora of new things, one of which is how critical technology is in education. As stated, I want to be a teacher, not just any teacher! I want to be an educator who brings every possible technological advancement to the classroom and my students. I want to be an educator of educators, as well, eventually. Becoming an Instructor and professor at the Collegiate level is a segment of what I aspire to achieve one day. I plan to use the technological skills acquired in this program to host professional development workshops. Regardless of how I use the education gained in this graduate program, one thing will always remain the same: it will be used to help people. Whether it means helping middle school students in a math class or helping colleagues further their knowledge of technology, it will be put to good use. My strengths in this program are excitement, passion, diligence, and a strong work ethic.
I am as happy to help others succeed as I am to help myself succeed, a vital cornerstone of education.
My technological experience is of a vast range. I have taken classes where I was required to use Matlab for Engineers, Excel, and Geogebra. I am well versed in all things Google, and I am in the process of becoming so with all things Apple (pages, keynote, etc.), as I am still becoming acquainted with my MacBook. As a millennial, I had the unique generational experience of being a teenager when the technology world exploded and grew into adulthood as it accelerated to increasingly complex levels. I am also currently in an Education Technology class, ETC447, and to put it simply, I want more! My expectations of this program are such that it will propel me into the technologically riddled future with the knowledge necessary to be successful and help others be so.
So many aspects of technology can be incorporated into the classroom, and I have only been exposed to the tip of the iceberg in that regard. I have never been a fan of the online environment concept for learning before, but my opinion has received a significant overhaul as a college student during the pandemic. I was exposed to countless creative ways to approach education in an online classroom setting. Despite never taking an online class before the pandemic, I have excelled quite well. Due to this program being technology-centered, the online approach is quite fitting. I am firmly committed to acquiring my education and technology knowledge, which I will bring to this program daily! Technology is the future and s to be a substantial part of that future.
