In writing this scholarly paper, I experienced some challenges and successes. One challenge I had was analyzing and using information from scholarly articles effectively. Much information and writing surrounding Critical Race Theory is significant but also overwhelming at times. I struggled with what quotes would best serve the purpose of my scholarly paper. Another struggle I experienced was using proper in-text citations; they seem simple, but I often get confused and have to research how this is done correctly. I succeeded in reducing the enormous amount of information and meaningfully synthesizing it into a single paper. I will apply Critical Race Theory to my educational practice in the future by remaining sensitive and inclusive to cultural differences and being fair and honest about history as part of my philosophy of education.
Research and theory inform my perspective on how technology-based learning environments should be designed in numerous ways. Research shows that there are educational disparities that arise through technological inequities. It is important to remember that every student has a unique home life and different life experiences. These are factors to consider when designing technology-infused lesson plans. In addition, it is essential to think of those in your community and globally who lack the privileges many of our students enjoy. Teaching our children how to use technology to improve the circumstances of those less fortunate is extremely crucial. Often, students will use technology for fun and entertainment. Still, it is the responsibility of educators to open the vast world of technology beyond the basics they are familiar with. My design process involves objectives that go beyond the technological lesson and content standard intended. I feel there needs to be a deeper level of understanding that involves human kindness and is proactive in considering how to improve the world around us and beyond.
