Geography
The Geography Section of Charles University´s Faculty of Science consistently ranks in the second hundred according to the QS World University Rankings and is the highest-rated discipline in the Czech Republic over the long term. The Section Vice-Dean is Prof. Martin Ouředníček.
The Section includes a total of four Departments, respectively headed by:
Applied Geoinformatics and Cartography (Assoc. Prof. Lucie Kupková);
Demography and Geodemography (Assoc. Prof. Jiřina Kocourková);
Social Geography and Regional Development (Prof. Jiří Blažek);
Physical Geography and Geoecology (Assoc. Prof. Václav Treml).
The Geography Section also includes the Geographical Library and Map Collection.

Studying geography is definitely not all about lectures and study obligations. While a student, you can take part in the activities of various student associations, Faculty-wide activities, and several sports courses and geography field trips. Specifically, the following geography student associations are active in the Section: EGEA Praha – (European Geography Association for Students and Young Geographers; Czech only), Geography Volunteers, Student Demography Club, Young Demographers and the HC Přírodověda UK Ice Hockey Club, FSc CU Tourist Club and the Hydrant hydrology association. In addition, there is a project entitled We Enjoy Geography, and the Geography Section is home to the Geography Olympiad and the Czech Geographical Society.
