APEX ZERO PERIOD:

Seniors who are credit deficient will have the opportunity to enroll in a zero period APEX class to make up credits.  Students will work with their Counselor to determine what class(es) they need to make up and will sign a contract committing to attending daily at 7:30am until they have completed their course(s).  Having a combined total of 7 tardies and/or unexcused absences can result in removal from APEX as there is always a waitlist of students attempting to get a spot in this credit recovery opportunity.   Priority is given to Seniors who need credits for graduation.  Second priority is for Seniors who are attempting to improve a grade for a-g eligibility.  Last priority is given to credit deficient Juniors.

SUMMER SCHOOL:

Summer School is offered every year for any student that needs to make up a class(es).  Classes are offered in a variety of formats, including in-person classes that are teacher led and in-person classes utilizing the APEX online system.  Regardless of the format, students are expected to attend in person daily.  We offer up to 3 sessions of summer school with each session lasting 2 weeks.  Students are able to recover 5 credits during each of these sessions making summer school a great opportunity to recover up to 15 credits, if needed.  Your Counselor will meet with you at the end of the current school year to make course recommendations for summer school and get you enrolled in your appropriate sessions.

ADULT EDUCATION:

Adult Education is a credit recovery option that we offer to a very small number of Seniors who have a hardship in arriving to Zero Period APEX courses to make up credits.  This is not available for students that simply do not want to attend early morning classes.  Courses are offered in an online format, accessible at home in the evening and weekend hours.  Counselors reach out to all credit deficient seniors at the beginning of their senior year to determine the best option for them and will discuss adult education as an option, if applicable.

DISCOVERY HIGH SCHOOL:

Discovery High School is our district's alternative education site located at 3401 Fong Ranch Road.   This a great alternative to our large traditional high school in that it offers students small class sizes, individualized attention, and the opportunity to recover credits at a faster pace than our semester system.  Students must be at least 16 years of age to be referred to Discovery High School.  Students and families can work with their Counselor to determine whether you will graduate from Discovery High School or return to Inderkum High School, should you recover sufficient credits to be back on track for graduation by the second semester of your senior year.  Either way, students that graduate from Discovery High School earn a Natomas Unified School District high school diploma and are ready to pursue their post secondary educational goals.   To learn more about Discovery High School, visit their website by clicking HERE
