Inderkum High School Graduation Requirements vs. A-G Requirements

Counselors work with students and families each year to create a schedule that will allow students to complete the graduation requirements established by Natomas Unified School District as listed below.   Our graduation requirements are closely aligned with a-g requirements required to apply to 4-year colleges by a student's senior year.  Students that do not earn a minimum grade of a "C" in all of their core classes are highly encouraged to retake the course to remain on an a-g track by their senior year.  Refer to our Credit Recovery section of the website for more information.

MODIFIED SCHEDULE OPPORTUNITIES

WORK PERMIT OR DUAL ENROLLMENT IN COLLEGE CLASSES

Students may be eligible to get between 1-2 periods modified in their schedule if they are working and/or would like to take community college courses.  This needs to be discussed with a Counselor in advance as both have their own approval process and will generally only apply to 11th and 12th grade students.

In order to take a period off for work, students must have an excess of credits to allow for that modified period while still remaining on track for graduation with the required credits.  Click on the work permit picture for a copy of the application.

Community college courses can be taken through the Dual Enrollment program.  Please visit the DUAL ENROLLMENT page for detailed information regarding the registration process.

EARLY GRADUATION

Midterm Graduation Application.pdf

The earliest that a student is eligible to graduate from Inderkum High School is after the first semester of their senior year.  This only applies to students who have earned a total of 195 credits by the time they are beginning their senior year and have a cumulative GPA of a 2.0.  Student's need to complete a MIDTERM GRADUATION APPLICATION during their Junior year and should have a valid reason for the request (i.e. wanting to enroll in college early, wanting to enter the workforce, etc.).  Students must also enroll in a community college English course the summer after their Junior year in order to complete their Senior English class in advance.  Applications will be reviewed by the student's Counselor and the Principal prior to approval.

STUDENT TRANSCRIPTS

We get a lot of questions regarding student transcripts each year and have tried to answer some of the most common questions below.  Please read through them and reach out with any additional questions to your specific Counselor.

Q: What is a transcript?

A: A transcript is a student's official record of all courses they have taken in their 4 years of high school.  It details the course names, the grades received within each course, the weight that grade has on a student's GPA, and the credits they received for that course.  This is the tool utilized by the Counseling Team to determine if a student is on track for graduation and to meet a-g eligibility.  Students and families can be active participants in tracking their progress towards graduation by regularly checking the Credit Summary portion of the transcript to see how a student is progressing in each subject area required for graduation.

Q: How can I access my transcript?

A: All students can access their unofficial transcript in Infinite Campus.

Q: What if I transferred to Inderkum after attending a different school and don't see information from my previous school on my transcript?

A: When a new student transfers in to Inderkum, our Registrar automatically requests Official Transcripts from the student's previous school/district.  Some schools/districts are more responsive than others.  It can be helpful for families to reach out to their previous school/district to request the Official Transcript to help speed up the process.  We need Official Transcripts to be received by our Registrar's Office before we can add the information onto a student's Inderkum transcript.

Q: How can I add college coursework to my high school transcript?

A: Students must log in to their student portal for the community college in which they took the class(es).  Students need to request an Official Transcript and pay a small fee to have that sent to our Registrar's Office using the email address listed here:  ihsrecords@natomasunified.org.  Once our school receives the Official Transcript, the information can be updated on a student's high school transcript.  In general, 3 unit college classes provide students with 10 high school credits.
