Class of 2027
GET READY FOR YOUR SENIOR YEAR
GET READY FOR YOUR SENIOR YEAR
HELLO JUNIORS! Your Senior year is right around the corner and there is a lot that you can start doing NOW and OVER THE SUMMER to help you prepare for College Applications in the Fall of 2026. Starting these items now will ease your stress when you return to school in August as an official Senior. Take a look at our suggested list below:
Start filling out your Letter of Recommendation Packet (linked below).
Review the options for your Personal Insight Questions to begin drafting responses. You will have to select 4 prompts to answer if you plan to apply to an UC schools (see link below).
Create your College List (5-7 schools) and create a spreadsheet to begin tracking all of the important information you will need to consider when making a decision on where to attend.
Start planning for your Senior Project volunteer requirement so you can get a jump start on hours in the summer while you have the free time. Full details on your senior project requirement are listed below.
If you take any Dual Enrollment courses throughout the year or in the summer, be sure to request a copy of your transcript so it can be added to your Inderkum High School transcript in time for college applications.
Letters of Recommendation are usually needed for Private College applications and Scholarships. CSU and UC schools will not request or accept a Letter of Recommendation as part of their review of your application. To obtain a letter from your Counselor, please complete the LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION PACKET linked here and provide it to your Counselor at least 30 days before you will need the form submitted. We want to provide you with a detailed and personalized letter to showcase all of your hard work in high school. That can only be accomplished by giving us sufficient time to review your responses in the packet and writing a detailed and thoughtful letter on your behalf.
Did you know that you can get feedback on your PIQs over the summer with our College & Career Counselor, Ms. Ana? Please reach out via Student Square to arrange a time for her to review your response and give you some feedback. Once school starts she and your Counselors will be receiving a high volume of requests to review PIQs so this is an excellent opportunity to get a head start and have individualized support before the hectic college application season. Please plan accordingly.
Students should return in the fall with at least 5-7 colleges on their college list that they have already started looking into. Please feel free to use the sample college list spreadsheet as you begin to create your list. We recommend the following:
2-3 Reach Schools
3-5 Wheelhouse Schools
2-3 Safety Schools
