HOMELESS YOUTH

Local Shelter & Support Services

Safe Homes: Worcester

  • A program of The Bridge of Central Massachusetts, that offers specialized services, resources and programming to LGBTQ+ youth in the area.

Waltham House: Waltham

  • Waltham House is the first residential group home designed specifically for LGBTQ+ youth in New England and provides a safe and supportive living environment with 24-hour staffing for up to 12 gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer, and/or transgender youth ages 14–18.

  • Many youth at Waltham House have experienced difficulty — at home or in placement — due to their gender expression or sexual identities. Their stay at Waltham House prepares them for what is next in their plan, which may be reunification with their families, transitioning to a foster family or preparing for independent living.

Y2Y: Harvard Square

  • A student-run overnight shelter serving young adults, age 18-24 years old, experiencing homelessness. Y2Y is not specific to LGBTQ+ people, but is queer-friendly and serves many LGBTQ+ youth.

  • With a mission of dignity, safety, and adaptability, Y2Y offers opportunities to meet other service providers, connect with other homeless youth and develop alternative and sustainable ways out of homelessness.
