The SVUSD Digital Culture program is based on Common Sense Media's digital citizenship curriculum, ISTE Standards for Students, the CASEL Framework for Social and Emotional Learning, SVUSD Digital Standards, and best practices for student online safety and privacy.
Saddleback Valley Unified School District has developed a district wide focus on social-emotional learning. A growing body of research shows that social and emotional learning is fundamental to students’ overall success. Social-emotional learning (SEL) is about helping students develop a range of skills they need for school and life. It is the process through which students manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. SEL is not a separate program or curriculum, but rather a set of standards that works seamlessly with the critical skills that our students learn within all of their learning settings.
