History of the Apocrypha
=======================
The apocrypha is a set of books written during a span of a few hundred years before Christ. They include the following books:
1 Esdras, 2 Esdras, Tobit, Judith, Wisdom of Solomon, Ecclesiasticus, Baruch, the Letter of Jeremiah, Prayer of Manasseh, 1 Maccabees, and 2 Maccabees, as well as additions to the books of Esther and Daniel.
These books are included in many Catholic bibles.
However, none of the believers in God during Old Testament times believed in the apocrypha as part of the Bible. The Hebrew Bible in ancient times did not contain the apocrypha, but only the Old Testament books.
The Jewish Hebrew Bible is exactly like the Christian Old Testament, except that the organization of the books are a bit different in the Jewish Bible, with some books combined together and some books in a different order. But all the words are the same.

The Bible Jesus Read
===================
The Bible Jesus read contained only the Old Testament books (without apocrypha). Therefore, the apocrypha is not part of the Bible today.
Furthermore, Jesus confirmed the Old Testament and referred to it as the Law and the Prophets.
Jesus said, "The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John; since that time the gospel of the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it. But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one stroke of a letter of the Law to fail” (Luke 16:16-17).
If you notice how the Hebrew Bible is organized, you can see a section for the Law of Moses (first five books of the Bible) and a section for the Prophets (beginning with Joshua and ending with Malachi). So Jesus explained that the Old Testament proclaimed the Law and the Prophets, and the New Testament proclaims the gospel message.
Furthermore, Jesus read from the Writings or Scriptures part of the Hebrew Bible by referring to the Psalms of David (Matthew 22:41-45).
So Jesus quoted from the Old Testament, because this was the Bible Jesus read.
Errors in the Apocrypha
=======================
There are many errors in the apocrypha and sections that contradict the Bible.
For example, the book of Tobit recommends the use of magic and divination to cast out demons (Tobit 6:5-8) and giving to charity for forgiveness of all sins (Tobit 4:10-11).

Many Jewish people celebrate Hanukkah, so one might think that the books of the Maccabees would be included in the Bible. But those books are not included. Why? Because the books of the Maccabees are not inspired by God, even though there are many historical events recorded in them.
Trust God to preserve His Word
============================
It is important to understand that God, being all-powerful and all-knowing, moved men who wrote down the words of God in the Bible. God led His disciples to recognize His writings, and God preserves His word for all generations.
Therefore, we can trust God that the Bible we hold in our hands today is complete just the way it is.
“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
