The Lord Jesus is the Son of God. He left heaven and came to earth in the flesh.
"He [Jesus] is the image of the invisible God... For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible...” (Colossians 1:15-17)
One of Jesus' names is Immanuel, which means “God with us”. Jesus became like us in every way when He came to earth. Even though He is fully God, He became fully human at the same time when He came 2000 years ago. He grew tired and hungry just like we would.
Jesus spent over 30 years on earth, and taught many people the ways of God and healed many people. Jesus spoke many parables about the Kingdom of God and showed us how we should live, but the hearts of many people were dull, and they did not understand.
Out of jealousy, religious leaders plotted to kill Jesus. Judas (one of His disciples) betrayed Him. Jesus was handed over to Roman soldiers, and they mocked, whipped, and crucified Him.
But Jesus, before He died, knew what would happen to Him, and He voluntarily gave up His life in order to save us from sin.
Jesus said, "For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life so that I may take it again. No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative" (John 10:17-18).
Jesus' enemies thought they had killed Jesus whom they hated. But Jesus, while He was on the cross, took our sins and wrongdoings upon Himself. The perfect Son of God died on the cross for all mankind in order to become our substitute before God. He took upon Himself our punishment for sins so that those who believe in Him can live.

Without what Jesus did on the cross, we would need to bear the punishment for our own sins when we die. But Jesus died for us so that those who believe in Him and repent (turn away from their sins) can have eternal life.
Three days after Jesus died, He resurrected bodily from death. He appeared to many disciples and then He ascended to heaven.

Our sins separate us from God so that instead of going to heaven when we die, if we don't believe in Jesus, we will be judged based on what we have done on earth. No one can stand this judgment, because we will be punished for any bad deeds we have done.
In order to be saved and forgiven of our sins, we need to:
1. Believe that Jesus is Lord. And believe He died for you on the cross to pay for your sins on your behalf. Jesus, the righteous Son of God, paid the penalty of sins for us so that we can be forgiven of our sins. He took our place and was punished instead of us. Jesus rose bodily from death and is alive today (seated on His throne with God the Father in heaven).
2. Repent: Decide to keep away from doing things that are wrong, and follow God from now on.
