The Binding of Isaac Mods

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is a roguelike top-down shooter that was released in 2013. Since then, it has received several major content updates in 2015, 2017, and 2021.

TBoI has a thriving modding community on Steam, to which I contributed some of my own works. The newest mods I've developed are at the top.

Ultra Conquest Showcase

Ultra Conquest - 7/21/22

"A forgotten horseman has appeared in a Broken Home..."

This was my big project to work on during Summer Break. I made all of the sprites, animations, AI, and LUA code for actually setting the conditions for the boss to spawn correctly, as well as made the code easily changable for difficulty tweaking.

I also modified things afterwards based on user feedback (namely, that it was too easy), as well as making it compatible with other mods. This was both modifying variables, such as making everything a little faster (which was incredibly easy from how I had everything set up), and adding a Pony Laser to the eye beams attack.

This is also one of my mods that hit a 5-Star rating on the Workshop, so I feel like that really speaks to its quality.

Hit List - 10/20/21

"Adds sprites of each character's unlockables to the sticky note of every character. Also adds custom icons for both Greedier and Delirium/Void."

This one was really tricky to implement; mods that change actual gameplay are limited to in-game stuff, not the menus, so I had to change only menu graphics to be able to display unlockables for each individual character. I also had to make like a literal hundred-something tiny sprites for things that don't have menu graphics, like trinkets and cards.

Dogma's Truth - 9/2/21
"Adds a new four-charge active item called Dogma's Truth! On use, it grants Isaac flight, as well as a static Brimstone beam that charges while Isaac is shooting, similarly to Revelation. It also counts toward the Seraphim transformation."

A lot of people requested a item-based version of the Dogma Lasers mod when it was first released, so this is my answer to that! It took me a while to make, as both room-based active items and lasers are tricky to work with. There are definitely still some bugs, though I'm not sure if I want to take the time to patch them.

Parallel Cloth - 7/28/21
"The effect of the Parallel Cloth is simple: Any tarot card used will trigger both their normal and Reversed effects. This goes for both normal AND already-reversed tarot cards. This also stacks with Tarot Cloth!"

I still REALLY want something like this to be added in via something like one of Afterbirth's Booster Packs.

Epiphora Buffer Frames - 7/21/21
"Epiphora is one of the least synergistic items in the game, so I thought it's time someone fixed it."

This was the first of my in-depth mods to get really popular. So popular, in fact, that someone made an entire video dedicated to what my mod changes, which is AWESOME.

As of 9/28/22, I patched all of the known issues with the mod, which is pretty epic.

As of 12/23/22, it's also hit 5 stars on the Workshop! Poggers be!

Polygonal Stopwatch - 7/10/21
"The Polygonal Stopwatch stops enemies when Isaac doesn't move, meaning you can plan your actions more carefully. Though, bosses and projectiles are able to resist the effect, only being able to be slowed."

This item is a direct reference to SUPERHOT, as the gimmick of that game is that time moves at the same rate that the player moves.

Funny enough, Isaac actually has a built-in SUPERHOT mode as an easter egg, which I didn't know about since it was added only a few months before I made the mod.

Dogma Lasers - 6/4/21
"Overhauls every Brimstone-based lasers' graphics and sound effects to resemble the Brimstone attack used by Dogma! Also modifies the Brimstone character costumes and item sprites for consistency."

This was just sprite and audio modifying; nothing too, too impressive here. The main static currently implemented was made by someone else, gavotron2000, but I'd figured out a better way of doing it by the time I made Dogma's Truth, which is why the static looks different there.

Thing is, this mod got popular. Like, really, REALLY popular. So popular in fact, that the guy that inspired me to get Isaac, grayfruit, was actually using the mod for a while!
