Concerts & Events

Please make note of the dates below. Full ensemble performances are a summative assessment and therefore mandatory and graded. An emergency or illness warrants a written parent excuse or phone call to Mrs. Kamp. It is unfair to the rest of the ensemble if someone is missing. Please plan ahead and don’t let your peers down!

What To Wear

Concert Dress -all black

Part of being a musician is taking pride in the ensemble’s appearance when playing for an audience. Therefore, we have a dress code that enhances the concert experience for audience and performers alike. We would like to see the students looking as nice and modest as possible so that we can provide a uniform look. Please plan ahead and figure out if you need to purchase or borrow clothing for concerts.

Your outfit must include:

  • Black Dress Pants (no dresses, skirts, yoga pants, capris, leggings)

  • Black Dress Shirt or Blouse (short sleeve minimum-NO Sleeveless/Straps/Tanks, etc.) No other colors may be worn.

  • Neckties and Bowties of any color are optional but highly encouraged.

  • Black dress shoes (preferred) with black socks or stockings (no open toes). Girls are discouraged from wearing excessively high heels.

Concert Etiquette

  • Please help everyone enjoy our concert by following these suggestions:

  • If you need to leave the performance due to an emergency, please do so between pieces. You can avoid distracting the performers and the rest of the audience by minimizing movement during the concert.

  • Please refrain from continuous conversation during the performance. The comments you make may be heard by those around you as well as the performers. Please show your love & support for our students in an appropriate way, such as clapping politely. Screaming, whistling, or name calling can be very distracting/embarrassing to our young musicians.

  • Please, put your phone down and enjoy the concert! Flash photography during the concert is extremely distracting to the performers. Please save your picture taking for the reception afterwards!

  • Children are the future of our music programs, and should be encouraged to attend concerts whenever possible. Please bring children who will appreciate the music that is being performed. Most children are fascinated by performers’ voices and instruments. Please keep children at their seats during the performance. If a child begins to cry or if an emergency occurs, please leave the performance area discreetly and quickly. And by all means, return to the concert as soon as you are able!

  • Please take the time to complement our student performers at the end of the concert, regardless of mistakes that were made or distractions that occurred. Every one of these students worked hard to learn their music; they deserve to hear praise for their performance!
