As you enter the workforce or college, you will be asked numerous times to public speak. It is true that the second biggest fear of people is speaking in front of people! Some of you might be very comfortable and at ease with public speaking while others have anxiety attacks just thinking about public speaking. However, it is a skill that is vital in whatever you choose to do and we want to make sure you have a strong foundation as you leave Mashpee High School.
When you were young, your parents did not expect you to jump to your feet and begin walking. Little by little you developed muscles and coordination to eventually crawl, then walk, then run. It was a process that took time, learning to public speak well takes time and practice.
Below is the list of different public speaking assignments Senior Seminar teachers will be assigning. As you start off with your first assignment you will focus on basic presentation skills, such as volume and diction. As you progress through the different assignments we hope you learn small skills and strategies to help you make a fantastic final presentation to the Senior Board Judges and be a strong and confident public speaker.
