Dear Upchurch Community,

As shared in Friday’s Leaper Ledger, I have made the very bittersweet decision to begin a new chapter next school year as the principal of a school that holds a special place in my family’s heart. While this change is on the horizon, it’s only January, and we still have a lot of the school year left to learn, grow, and celebrate together. Serving as the principal of Upchurch Elementary for the past six years has been the honor of a lifetime, and I am excited to continue making meaningful memories with our amazing Leapers, staff, and families in the months ahead.

I am thrilled to announce that Dr. Courtney Manzitto, the current principal of Wheeler Elementary in Millard Public Schools, will be taking my place as your new administrator starting in the 2025-2026 school year. Dr. Manzitto is an exceptional leader and a skilled administrator with whom I had the privilege of working during my time as an administrative intern at Wheeler. I couldn’t be happier with this district’s decision!

Over the years, Courtney and I have had the opportunity to collaborate on various initiatives, and I can confidently say that she is a fantastic leader and a truly wonderful person. I have no doubt that under her leadership, Upchurch will continue to thrive and build on the excellence we have worked so hard to achieve together.

I am looking forward to cherishing every moment with our incredible Leapers, staff, and families. Thank you for your unwavering support, trust, and partnership throughout this journey.
