Week of February 2nd - February 6th
Week of February 2nd - February 6th
Students will be coming home this Friday, February 6th with their midterm progress report. Please be sure to review this report, sign it, and have your child return it on their next school day. This is a great time to have conversations with your child about goals for third and fourth quarter.
Let's finish strong!
With the success of our Toiletry Drive for Open Door Mission, students reached the goal of having a Glow Party! This party will be held during students' specials time. We encourage students to wear white or neon colors the day of their party as part of a blacklight experience.
Here are the days of each class Glow Party.
Monday, February 9th
Thompson, Zuniga, Hohmann
Tuesday, February 10th
Larsen, Wismer
Students are invited to pass out Valentine's Day cards and treats before the party in their classroom.
Students are invited to create a Valentine's Day box for the party. We will be voting for "Most Creative" boy box and "Most Creative" girl box and will vote as a grade level for a final winner in each category.
Students are invited to wear a white t-shirt the day of the party to get signatures from classmates and friends!
Students are welcome to participate in each of these events, but participation is not required.
Any student that does not have a Valentine's Day box will be given the opportunity to decorate a bag to collect holiday cards and treats!
Monday, February 16th - No School
During this holy month of fasting, prayer, and reflection, we want to make sure we are mindful of any student that is celebrating Ramadan. If your child has any specific needs during this time, please feel free to reach out to your child's fifth grade teacher.
Order Your Yearbook
Time to order a yearbook!
When the end of the year rolls around, many fifth graders want a yearbook to commemorate their final year of elementary school.
Visit treering.com/validate to order a Wheeler yearbook today!
Please note - extras may not always be printed for a last minute purchase.
Order as soon as you can.
Winter Weather & Recess Guidelines
As temperatures continue to drop, please help your fifth grader dress warmly for school. Cold weather can pose safety concerns, and we appreciate your support in keeping students protected.
When the "feels like" temperature is 32 degrees or below, students must wear a winter coat to participate in outdoor recess. Students who do not have a coat will be asked to check the lost and found for one to use. If a coat is not available, the student will remain indoors during recess. If your child is in need of a winter coat, please reach out to their homeroom teacher. We are happy to assist you!
Thank you for helping us keep down the distractions in our classrooms!

Each 5th grader has a planner that will be filled out each day. Planners should be checked at home for homework assignments, upcoming tests, and other important information. Please sign your child's planner each night.
Water bottles should only have water in them - flavoring needs to stay at home. Thank you!
An important note: all snacks should be peanut and tree nut free. Snacks that have peanuts or tree nuts as an ingredient will be returned home with the student.
We’d love to have you join us this year to help keep the Wheeler community strong.
