Our Human Growth and Development Parent Meeting is just around the corner!
On April 22nd, we will meet in the Wheeler Library from 5:30pm - 6:30pm.
This optional parent meeting allows you to review the standards and curriculum materials that will be presented to students in our health lessons. We will be looking at our health textbooks as well as our Growing Up! videos together and discussing the learning expectations and structure of our lessons. This is a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have. After the meeting, if you prefer that your child not participate in the health lessons, you can notify the office or your child's teacher and we will provide an alternative activity the days of our lessons.

Dear Fifth Grade Parents,
It’s hard to believe we’re already approaching the end of the year and getting ready to celebrate our 5th graders as they graduate from Elementary School!
To help make their final week extra special, we are offering 5th Grade Shoutouts. These celebratory messages will be displayed on the television at the school entrance and will run on repeat throughout the entire last week of school.
Shoutout Details:
Cost: $10
Display: School entrance TV, all week long
Photos: For their “then” picture, you may use a baby photo, a first‑day‑of‑Kindergarten picture, a Preschool photo, or anything that reflects how far they’ve come.

Winter Weather & Recess Guidelines
As winter moves into spring, please help your fifth grader dress warmly for school each day. Cold weather can pose safety concerns, and we appreciate your support in keeping students protected.
When the "feels like" temperature is 32 degrees or below, students must wear a winter coat to participate in outdoor recess. Students who do not have a coat will be asked to check the lost and found for one to use. If a coat is not available, the student will remain indoors during recess. If your child is in need of a winter coat, please reach out to their homeroom teacher. We are happy to assist you!

All 5th grade iPads will ONLY go home when students have specific school assignments to complete. If that is the case, students will sign out their iPad with their classroom teacher. On all other days, they will be plugged in and charged at school. We are intentional about building iPad responsibility and we hold 5th graders to high expectations on their devices.

In 5th grade, spelling is an important part of our curriculum. Our goal is to make spelling a more integral part of students' everyday writing and part of the editing and revising process. We will work on a specific spelling pattern each week and focus on practicing the pattern, looking at the word in the context of a sentence, and applying the pattern to our original writing.

Each 5th grader has a planner that will be filled out each day. Planners should be checked at home for homework assignments, upcoming tests, and other important information. Please sign your child's planner each night.
