5th Grade - Science

Here are the unit topics that we will be studying this year:

Unit 1: Patterns of the Earth and Sky

Why do we see different stars at different times?

Unit 2: Modeling Matter

What happens when two substances are mixed together?

Unit 3: The Earth System

What can determine how much water is available for human use?

Unit 4: Ecosystem Restoration

How do organisms in an ecosystem get the matter and energy they need to grow and thrive?

In fifth grade, students study a wide range of sciences! We are scientists, explorers, adventurers, and engineers. We use a range of resources to assist us in exploring our ideas - from our Amplify Science curriculum to our own individual research! Fifth grade science is TONS of fun!

In fifth grade, we cover a review and enrichment of the life sciences, the basics of physics and matter, a review of earth science, and we also explore some basic ideas about space and beyond!

Students learn that all science begins with the asking of a question and we learn how science investigation is not linear in structure, but takes us down many different avenues of thought!
