This year, our fifth-grade students will be using CKLA (Core Knowledge Language Arts) as our new English Language Arts curriculum. CKLA is designed to help students become confident readers, thoughtful writers, and effective communicators through engaging, knowledge-rich lessons.
Throughout the year, students will:
Read a variety of high-quality fiction and nonfiction texts.
Develop their writing skills through narrative, informational, and opinion writing.
Build vocabulary and strengthen speaking and listening skills.
Practice reading closely, citing evidence, and thinking critically about what they read.
Explore exciting topics in history, science, and literature while building background knowledge.
