Identity
My Identity
How has your definition of Identity changed from the beginning of the year to now?
I used to think that identity is who you are and what you like to do, under and over top of the mask, like what you like to do, your personal life, sports, etc. Although I still do believe this, I think that identity is the traits that make up your character as well. Having a unique identity can influence how you interact with other people, your career, and more.
How has a challenge or an adversity become a strength for you?
Having a lot of work to do at home after and before sports has been quite a struggle for me. I have swim practice for two hours every day, and that leaves less time for homework and other school projects I didn't complete in class that day. For example, articles that I didn't finish annotating in class I normally take home with me to finish overnight. While this strategy is very difficult and often overwhelming, it also taught me valuable time management and prioritizing skills that I need for the future in high school and college.
How have these aspects of Identity helped you become the person you are today?
As I said above, I interact with other people differently because of my identity, mainly the sports I play. After my races, I always congratulate the people I race because I don't want to be a sore winner or loser. Being respectful and kind to others is a skill that you need if you want people to like you and respect you back. It will also influence my career. Having hobbies that you enjoy and have enjoyed for a long time can help you to choose what you want to do with your life. If you don't have any hobbies, Then you will have to choose a job that you don't like or enjoy, and nobody wants to do that.
