Learning target: I can write and perform a skit about the main reasons for the fall of the Mayan civilization. One of the Mayan downfalls was how the water got contaminated, and no one did anything about it. I was the narrator for the skit we performed.
Mayan Help wanted Advertisement
This help wanted ad is for the ruler. This explains the things you need to do to be a Mayan ruler. I created two help wanted ads for the peasant and the ruler, both showing what skills you need to have to apply for both positions.
Learning Target: I can compose an interview between an Incan ruler and a Spanish Conquistador
The main idea of this project was to give the parents a better understanding of the Inca and Aztec civilizations. To make these artifacts, there were many steps. The first few steps were researching our artifacts, writing summaries to present to the parents, and finding reference images for us to get inspiration from. Then it was on to actually making the artifacts. We built them using air dry clay, and then painting a base coat on them. Then, we added the final touches of the artifacts with different color paint. (I personally used black and brown) Then, we had to make a few more things before we were done. We did the first one in humanities. There were a few options, like creating a short story based off of an AI generated image, which was my choice. Then, we combined this with digital media, where we made movie posters based on if we were Inca or Aztec. A few challenges to making this were keeping the artifacts from breaking before exhibition night. They, of course had other plans, but that made them look more like real artifacts. I think I demonstrated respect during this because I was listening to my partners ideas, and letting them answer questions about our project. This was, hands down, the BEST exhibition I've done.
