8th grade lens - impact
I think that I show our 8th Grade Lens, which is impact, mostly in the lives of my friends and family. Whether it's grammar corrections, spending time with them when they need it, always supporting them, being sarcastic, or just making them laugh, it all makes a huge difference in the long run. I know that I'd be a very different person without my two best friends, my family, and the people I surround myself with. All of those people make me happy when I'm around them, and I try my best to make them happy.

My goal for respect is to actively listen with eyes and ears while teachers are talking or classmates are presenting.
This is what I commit to doing that will contribute to me accomplishing my goal for Respect... Being careful about choosing a seat in which I may be tempted to talk with others. Developing a habit of checking in with myself to make sure I am present. Advocate for myself by raising my hand if I was spacing out, to make sure I understood what instructions were.
Others will know I'm actually doing it when they see me... Others will know that I am actually accomplishing my goal because I will be quiet and focused on whomever is speaking. They will see that I have my eyes on the speaker. They will also notice that I am not distracting my peers and the learning environment at inappropriate times.
The difference it will make is... It will increase my learning. I will learn when it is cool to chat with friends and when to stay focused on the speaker. Others will be able to increase their learning due to less distractions. I may have more free time if I am using my time more wisely.

My goal for integrity is to be honest about when I need help with a project or assignment.
This is what I commit to doing that will contribute to me accomplishing my goal for effort... I will listen to my peers openly and confidently when they are critiquing me.
Others will know I'm actually doing it when they see me... Going back and refining my work how other peers have suggested.
The difference it will make is... My work will have had many different sets of eyes that have refined and suggested changes.

My goal for Effort is to put more effort into accepting feedback gracefully and using it to actually improve my work, rather than simply accepting it and then ignoring it.
This is what I commit to doing that will contribute to me accomplishing my goal for integrity... I will tell my teachers and/or peers that I am struggling with an assignment.
Others will know I'm actually doing it when they see me... Talking it over with a teacher or peer.
The difference it will make is... I will have the support that I need to complete my work well.

My goal for Refinement is to accept feedback more openly and use it in a more productive manner.
This is what I commit to doing that will contribute to me accomplishing my goal for Refinement… I will try to consider the feedback I receive and then actually go back and refine my project, because I normally don't.
Others will know I'm actually doing it when they see me... Accepting and recording feedback to look back on later.
The difference it will make is... My work will be more refined and have many different ideas incorporating from the feedback I receive.

significant adult in life
Elle is my circus teacher. Her company is located at the Durango Gymnastics Center, but she looks forward to expanding to her own studio in the future. I chose her as my significant adult because even though she is very strict and professional, I know she cares about me and loves me like family. She pushes my physical boundaries, and helps me grow as a person and as a circus artist.
