I have researched all about the Sonoran Desert with my group, and the many features I has.
In science, we studied many things. we also had the opportunity to present our first exhibition, which was all about ecoregins, and I did the sonoran desert. But lets get into the units we have explored.
The first one was The Scientific Method and there are 7 steps to it, 1. Question 2.Research 3.Hypothesis 4.Experiment 5.Data Analysis 6.Conclusion and 7.Communication.
The next unit we did was all about the Structure and Function of Cells, and Cells provide the necessary structural support to an organism. Here is a Diagram of plant and animal cells. a project that we did for this is, we took river water and put it under a microscope. we saw all different types of cells, and it was really cool. Here is a drawin of what I saw.
In the Biochemical geo cycle unit we learned about Photosynthesis Carbon cycle Soil composition
The Biogeochemical Cycle is any of the natural pathways by which essential elements of living matter are circulated.
The Carbon Cycle is the process that moves carbon between plants, animals, and microbes; minerals in the earth; and the atmosphere.
Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants and certain other organisms transform light energy into chemical energy.
The basic components of soil are minerals, organic matter, water and air. The typical soil consists of approximately 45% mineral, 5% organic matter, 20-30% water, and 20-30% air. These percentages are only generalizations at best.
Ecosystems, this unit was probably my favorite, I had a lot of fun studying for and preparing a script for our exhibition. During this unit, we talked about Climate Zones, Life Zones, Food Webs, Habitats, and much more. I studied the Sonoran Desert.
First was Genetics, Genetics is the study of how genes and how traits are passed down from one generation to the next. We studied Taxonomy, Evolutionary history, Genetic structure, and History of human genetic research.
This visual was what we showed when we presented this site to our class. By Alyssa, Olive, and Stella.
Long Term LT: I can use an area study to describe complex interactions between natural and human systems of water movement in the San Juan Mountains to uncover the interplay between natural resources and human society.
We gathered a lot of evidence for this one, and even had an exhibition on it!
Exploring the Human Body and Evolutionary Biology
Long Term LT: I can use project based methods to learn about the human body and evolutionary biology.
This was our last and most recent unit. We studied many parts of the poster, and then make a final product poster. This was also a really fun unit because we got to learn more about the human body!
