Ownership has played a big part in my 7th grade year. Owning up to something you do, takes integrity, and that takes honesty. A project that I had to take ownership in was The Silk Roads. We had to make three posters, a timeline, a geography map, and a concept map. We didn't realize after we finished the rough drafts that we only had about four days to complete all three of the final drafts, it got really stressful, and hard to finish them in time, but we did, and they turned out really good. In this situation, I had to take ownership over my group, and take a poster home to finalize. This was challenging, but I am glad that I was able to help my team.
One way I demonstrated helpfulness in class was in our third unit, Organizing Societies. This unit was all about learning how to direct and participate in Socratic Seminars. I demonstrated helpfulness by engaging in the conversations, and building off of what other people were saying, in all of these Seminars, including at our exhibition.
One way I showed respect in group work is through SIG. If you don't already know, Student Interest Groups are, as you might know them, electives, you get to sign up for a class that you want to take. In 4th quarter, I signed up for Mountain Ambassadors and Green Team. Where we both lead our school, and help the environment. One thing we did to help the environment was an Earth Day Cleanup, where each advisory went to a different location to clean up trash. This shows that by respecting others and the planet, we decided to pick up trash around Durango.
