In this journal prompt, we used simple and compound sentences.

I can defend my claim using evidence from quality, reliable sources. 

I can write an effective argument by organizing my evidence and reasons into paragraphs. 

Refinement helped me here by having to go back and read my paragraphs because I kept repeating words and sentences.
