Behavior & Homework Expectations

Classroom Conduct:

If your child has always attended VH, they know C.A.R.E.S very well by the time the get to 5th grade. As students mature, expectations for appropriate behavior increase. We want students to become productive members of our world. Our team will expect students to manage themselves in a manner that will allow them the best chance to become successful and productive members of our world. During the school year, especially during the first few weeks, a substantial amount of time will be devoted to learning and relearning how to be successful and why it is important. Keep in mind that we don't expect students to be perfect but we will hold them to very high standards. We expect students to make mistakes academically and socially but the most important thing is that our students learn from the mistake.

"If your not making mistakes, then you're not doing anything. I'm positive that a doer makes mistakes."

John Wooden (Legendary Coach & Mentor)

Bathroom & Drinking Fountain Policy:

Students are asked to use the bathroom & drinking fountain during non-lesson time. If needed exceptions to this policy can be made for medical reasons.

Homework Policy:

Assignments must be brought to class completely done at the beginning of class on the date that it is due in order to be considered on time. If you have questions about problems or just don't understand how to complete an assignment please contact me by phone or email to let me know. When assignments are incomplete at the time they are due students will be required to make a phone call to a parent.

Absence Policy:

If a student is absent please be sure to contact our school office. If you would like assignments please contact the child's teachers and request work for time gone. In many cases there will be limited homework from class during absences. Please have your child check the Google Classroom Calendar to look for assignments.

Cell phones must be turned off and stored during the school day. If students are using a cell phone it will be taken and held in the main office until a parent or guardian can pick it up.
