EXPECTATIONS

CLASSROOM NORMS

Overview

If your child has always attended Valentine Hills Elementary, they know C.A.R.E.S very well by the time the get to 5th grade. As students mature, expectations for appropriate behavior increase. We want students to become productive members of our world. Our team will expect students to manage themselves in a manner that will allow them the best chance to become successful and productive members of our world.

During the school year, especially during the first few weeks, a substantial amount of time will be devoted to learning and relearning how to be successful and why it is important. Keep in mind that we don't expect students to be perfect but we will hold them to very high standards. We expect students to make mistakes academically and socially but the most important thing is that our students learn from the mistake.

Bathroom & Drinking Fountain Policy

In the student's planner, they will receive a set number of passes to use during each quarter. Students are asked to use the bathroom & drinking fountain during non-lesson time. These opportunities will be clearly established and spread out throughout the school day. Exceptions to this policy can be made for medical reasons.

Food and Drink

Please send healthy snacks and water to school for snack time. Also, please be aware that we have students with LIFE THREATENING peanut and tree nut allergies.

Absence Policy

If a student is absent please be sure to contact our school office. If you would like assignments please contact the child's teachers and request work for time gone. In many cases there will be limited homework from class. Please have your child check the Google Classroom for Math to look for assignments.
