Paralegal and Legal Assistant Interns
Duties:
Legal research: Conducting research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal precedents related to family and trauma issues. This research can support the organization's efforts in providing legal assistance and advocacy for affected families. In all programs at the Morlock Foundation.
Document preparation: Assisting with the preparation of legal documents such as court filings, affidavits, petitions, and legal correspondence. This may involve drafting, editing, formatting, and proofreading documents.
Case management: Supporting the organization's staff in managing and organizing client cases. This can include maintaining case files, updating case management systems, and ensuring timely completion of necessary documentation.
Client communication: Assisting with client intake and communication. This may involve conducting interviews, gathering relevant information, and maintaining regular contact with clients to provide updates on their cases.
Court support: Assisting attorneys during court proceedings, which may include attending hearings, trials, and depositions. This can involve tasks such as note-taking, document management, and liaising with court personnel.
Administrative tasks: Providing general administrative support, such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and handling correspondence.
Advocacy and outreach: Assisting in community outreach efforts to raise awareness about the organization's services and available resources. This may involve participating in workshops, community events, and educational programs. Working with court systems, political systems and more in our micro and macro projects.
Collaborative work: Collaborating with other professionals within the organization, such as social workers, counselors, and therapists, to provide comprehensive support to families dealing with trauma. This can involve sharing information, coordinating services, and ensuring a multidisciplinary approach.
Continuing education: Staying updated on relevant legal developments, policies, and best practices related to family and trauma issues. Attending trainings and seminars can enhance your knowledge and skills in this field.
