Little Man

A call came in from a mom at NY Presbyterian Hospital. I am in NYC with my son as he is getting treatments and we have been here for 6 months and I have lost my apartment, insurance, and benefits because I could not come back to recertify for services. I don't know what to do.

The Morlock Foundation, Inc. started the process of intake with this mom inbetween treatment times and often when the Little Man was sleeping. All the paperwork was completed and we started working on her behalf contacting Department of Social Services. A few short days later we received a call from this mom that no one ever wants to get. Little Man has passed away and I don't know what to do. I want to bring him home but they will not let me take him. How do I get him home and plan a funeral? We immediately started calling the airlines to find one that would agree to bring Little Man home from NYC to Buffalo, NY while someone else was on the phone calling funeral homes in NYC to see who would be willing to donate their services to take Little Man to the flight to come home. Another started calling the funeral homes around the area where they use to live before being in the hospital to see if they would work with us to get Little Man to the funeral home and work out a deal with the mother for a funeral.

A little over 24 hours later Little Man and mom were on their way home. We had found a funeral home that would be willing to transport Little man to the plane. We found an airline that would transport mom and Little Man home. We found a funeral home where she lived and wanted to provide free transportation from the airport and worked with mom to reduce the cost of the funeral.

A few days later we attended the funeral for Little Man. Mom was a mess but their family was there to support her as Little Man was laid to rest in the town to which he lived before getting sick.
