Provide information how the institution will ensure that candidates are provided opportunities to experience issues of diversity.
During the 2020-21 school year, Modesto City Schools developed an Equity Task Force. The purpose of this committee was to provide evaluation and input to ensure all students have an equitable educational experience. The committee developed six recommendations to guide future work. One of the recommendations was to expand site based equity teams. These teams are facilitated by Epoch, School Leadership and Student Support Services. The District has a multi-year contract with Epoch Education, an education based company that provides executive coaching, professional development around equity and access, race and social justice issues in the district.
Due to the Superintendent’s on-going commitment to equity and professional development, she created the Equity and Racial Justice Framework. This Framework includes specific administrator training and professional development as well as site and community level equity work.
Candidates are provided with many opportunities to experience issues in diversity.
AC are encouraged to serve on the District Equity Committee and/or on the District Equity Task force.
MCS continues to contract out to a third party firm called EPOCH for equity & diversity training. All administrators are encouraged to participate in the EPOCH training. AC receive 0.5% of their salary’s base pay for participating in six or more hours of professional development including EPOCH equity and diversity professional development.
