Fieldwork and Clinical Practice
Element 1
Describe how the institution will implement and evaluate the effectiveness of the field experience and clinical practice component of the proposed program.
The induction program is job embedded professional development. There is a coherent feedback system between growth on the CPSELs and candidate progress towards their AILP goals. As the novice administrator considers their background knowledge, leadership experience, and their site context, AC create individual learning goals and work collaboratively with a mentor to meet each goal. the Administrator of Special Projects will consult with each Candidate to identify strengths and areas of r growth. leadership Coaches will be matched based on Administrative Candidates: position, setting, population, programs and other considerations.
AILP goals are connected to the CPSELs. As the AC works towards meeting each AILP goal:
The mentor provides feedback on their progress
Growth on the CPSELs is noted and the program reviews this progress
MCS evaluates effectiveness by reviewing each AILP during the mid-year and end of the year submission. The program also collects and reads collaboration logs to evaluate the effectiveness of the program and mentoring experience.
Survey data is gathered to evaluate the effectiveness of the field experience. Survey data and rubric will be used for coaches to self-evaluate, however, the Administrator of Special Projects will meet with coaches, during Leadership Coaching Meetings, to review the data and trends. Candidate survey feedback will also be used to provide formative feedback to coaches on their work. Example: If survey data indicates that mentors are scoring themselves low on feeling accepted and respected by the teacher candidate, professional development will be provided to Leadership Coaches during their scheduled meetings.
Programmatic feedback will be discussed through the Leadership Advisory Committee.
Examples are:
After implementation of the program, data collected from focus groups helps determine the program’s impact on candidate growth. The focus group questions provide data on effectiveness of the field experience and clinical practice.
The Leadership Advisory Committee (LAC) is comprised of district, induction personnel, mentors, directors, administrators, induction graduates and other stakeholders. The LAC reviews data to evaluate effectiveness. Data is used to improve or change the program.
