“A salute to the teachers for their resilience and resourcefulness. I also commend the teachers for keeping the school going in the midst of the pandemic.”
Students in Springfield Secondary School celebrated Teachers’ day in their individual classes with appreciation videos, skits, games, and awards. The fun-filled day for the teachers ended with a virtual visit to a piloted destination within the Springfield teaching community.
Thank you to all the teachers

Mr Lim has a kind nature and cares deeply for his students. I still remember that one morning, when it started pouring. I was on the way to school and I had to cross the road without an umbrella since left it at home. After reaching the classroom, Mr Lim saw my uniform soaked. He got worried that I might feel sick so he personally went down to the staff room to borrow a clean towel from his colleague. He gave it to me so I could quickly dry myself with it. While I was drying myself, he helped me wipe off the rain on my bags. At that moment, I knew that I am so lucky to have someone as caring as him as my teacher. Mr Lim is not just my favourite teacher but he is polite and humble too.

Ms Azeanni is not like other teachers. For me at least, I think she's the type of teacher who makes you want to go to class. Some teachers live to work while others work to live. I believe that she lives to work. I think Ms Azeanni teaches for the sake of the students and for their education rather than simply working for money. She is the type to leave no one behind and tries her best to better the students in their studies. Furthermore, she keeps us on our feet by asking us questions about the chapter at hand to make sure we're not only attentive but have understood the topic well. She also teaches her classes with an enthusiasm that makes us want to actually want to pay attention. She by some miracle makes even the most boring subject fun to learn.

He is a teacher and a person I look up to. He is a person who has influenced me in many good ways and is also like a best friend to me. He is a person who encourages me to do better and teaches me the importance of perseverance. Mr Adrian Lim is someone who you can click with instantly and understands you like no other. His hysterical personality and never-ending jokes have always managed to enliven my day and make it less dreadful. There was once when I was at a critical moment of my life with major decisions to be made. I was absolutely lost and unclear about my path for the future, so I decided to turn to him for advice. He reassured me that everything was going to be just fine and I should not worry too much about things that I am not capable of controlling.

Ms Koh was first introduced to our class towards the end of June 2019. She was the replacement to one of our former form teachers yet her kind presence reassured the class that we would be in good hands for the rest of our secondary one and two journeys. Although she has been teaching us for more than two years now, her classes have never felt boring regardless of the subject. Ms Koh always manages to make her classes interesting and interactive. Whenever she enters the classroom, everyone is immediately overjoyed even if it is the last class of the day. Though some students cause trouble and interrupt the class at times, Ms Koh never fails to remain patient. She has this gentle voice that is pleasant to hear and a contagious smile. Ms Koh has this love for guinea pigs and at times she will show us pictures of 3 of her beloved guinea pigs which is an immensely adorable sight to see.

Although people see him as a very strict teacher, he is a very kind-hearted teacher. Before every class starts, he would always lighten the mood first so that we will not feel too bored or tired from the lesson. His teaching method is very specific down to each and every detail starting from the foundation which makes the subject easier for us to study and understand. He even allows us to rest during lesson time for about five minutes and allows us to have our snacks because he understands that the class ends late in the afternoon. He does this so that we could concentrate on his lesson and not be sleepy. Mr Leung helps to motivate and inspire us to be better versions of ourselves. The character traits he will always try to instil in us is responsibility and self-confidence. He would teach us responsibility by always ensuring that we bring our homework to school or we would face the consequences. He teaches us self-confidence by making us take turns and use our homework and present our answers to our classmates.

Mdm Xiong is a very observant teacher. She would look out for students' well-being in class and would often approach them politely after class and talk to them. She would provide us with some logical solutions that we can take to approach the problems. Sometimes she even enlightens us to not think much about those issues which took me by surprise. She would tell us to look for her and try to talk to her. If we start bawling, she will pat our back and tell us not to worry too much. Oftentimes, I get amazed by how she can see how we are not feeling okay and not being ourselves. Many teachers would not have noticed but Mdm Xiong is attentive to our emotions and well-being. Her reward system for our class motivates many of us to listen in class and answer in class. There were many occasions where people who are slightly weaker in the subject gave up on trying to answer the questions she asked. However, Mdm Xiong would always encourage us to try and will reward us if we make an attempt to answer too. This makes us more motivated to study and work hard.

Mr Chong's positive personality is why he is our favourite teacher. Chinese Language was not an important subject to us as sometimes it is too boring. But from the day Mr Chong taught us, we loved it. It is the way he cracks jokes all around the class, making us laugh which is so captivating. His eyes would light up when he saw interesting items he could use to teach and his high pitch voice would ring across the classroom. Without fail, he would bring bright smiles to our faces while teaching us. Chinese Language lessons have never been more interesting to us. Until today, his lessons still remain in our minds. Mr Chong's positive personality really plays an important role as to why we like him and think of him as our favourite teacher.

When Mr Wong first enters the class, the whole class becomes dead silent. He has an intimidating fiery aura that gives off fear to the students who dare to oppose him. But in reality, he is not how we think he is. Once, I forgot to bring my blue wallet to school and did not have any money to purchase my meals. Mr Wong immediately spotted me and knew the situation from afar and graciously lent me money. This has impacted me and has left a deep impression on me. I enjoy his cheerfulness that tends to brighten any room he walks into. However, he can be quite reasonably fierce once in a while. He is a caring person who likes to help others who are in need and he does not expect anything in return for his kindness. When he gives us instructions on games that we are going to play he tends to be sincere and considerate and gives us safety rules from his personal experiences. He is also impartial to all his students which makes him a fun and cool teacher. When his students do not abide by the rules multiple times, he will be sober and scold his students for not abiding by the rules. When a student is injured, he will show care about the person by helping the person who is in need of assistance. However, he will show compassion to all his students in order for him to be a good role model.
