In 2020, Chinese Dance performed a Tibetan Dance piece during the Chinese New Year school concert. This dance genre was entirely new for the dancers and despite the uncertainty and short timeframe given to master the dance, the dancers' consistent effort and hard work coupled with their perseverance paid off, for they put up a spectacular performance on the actual day.
After the circuit breaker, the dancers continued to hone their technique and dance fundamentals through the weekly E-CCA sessions. This new experience showcased their creativity level and teamwork as the dancers had to coordinate with one another to produce various dance videos, in the comfort of their homes.
In spite of the challenging COVID 19 situation, Chinese Dance managed to carry out the Annual Dance Camp in 2020. The dancers participated in activities such as makeup and dance workshops while adhering to the safe management measures. The dancers not only learnt several makeup technique but also explored new genres of dance such as Broadway jazz and waacking, displaying their "Dare to Try" spirit.
Chinese Dance will also continue to serve the community through their participation in a virtual VIA project. The dancers had choreographed and filmed a dance routine for primary school students using songs of different languages, to encourage the students to have fun while exercising. This video will be shown to the primary school students and the dancers will guide them through the dance steps in the virtual VIA session.
