The Covid-19 crisis has forced school closures in many countries, heavily disrupting the learning process of children, youth and their families. While traditional schooling came to a halt, many of the institutions in Singapore turned to distance-learning solutions to ensure the continuity of education within our country. During this period, The Boys’ Brigade 39th Singapore Company conducted e-CCA parades for our boys through telecommuting tools like Zoom or Google meet on a weekly basis. Our officers, teachers and student leaders came together and implemented new initiatives such as the e-physical training to help enhance the engagement level of our company.
While it is important to ensure that our boys keep a healthy distance from each other in this pandemic, teachers and officers also understand the actions that we must take to offer our boys the platform to continue to show their care, compassion and respect for one another and to hone their leadership skills. Instead of conducting the usual 4D3N Year-end Camp also known as Camp Challenger, the company conducted a recent 2-day physical camp while abiding to safe distancing measures. The 2-day camp comprises of many fun and interesting activities such as outdoor cooking, basha-tent pitching, physical training and games where our secondary one and two boys learned new skills and knowledge and had the opportunity to forge stronger bonds with their seniors.
