Badminton

In Badminton, we believe that camaraderie and strong commitment from every member of the team is vital for success. We strive to better ourselves and persevere with dedication, discipline and a resilient attitude. Mia Hamm, a sportsperson and an Olympic Gold Medallist, once said,  “A winner is that person who gets up one more time than she is knocked down.” With that in mind, we work hard together as a team, with the guidance and support from our coaches, teachers and parents, to overcome our challenges, and strive for excellence in our sport and also our character. We strongly believe that a sportsperson is not only one who is equipped with good skills, but rather, one who also displays good character and values. As such, we aim to develop Kim Geks with a strong passion for the sport, and with the heart to serve others.

The team usually organises friendly games with other schools so as to have other players to spar against and learn from.  We also organise annual camps for focused training and to build team spirit.

2023 CCA Experience

2023 has been an eventful year for the Badminton team, being our first year of finally being able to experience both Zonal and National Championships since 2020 due to the pandemic. After countless gruelling and nerve-wracking matches, we finally saw the fruits of our labour as both ‘B’ and ‘C’ Divisions were placed 1st in North Zone Championships and 3rd in the Nationals respectively. This season forced us out of our comfort zones, shaped our team spirit and built our mental resilience. Our achievements were attributed to our camaraderie as a team and our fighting spirit.

The team trained tirelessly thrice a week, with a shared goal of striving to be better than the previous year. Juggling both CCA training as well as academic commitments was no easy feat, but with the encouragement and support from our teammates, teachers-in-charge and coaches, we were able to persevere.
