The aim of the String Ensemble is to make music together at the highest level possible. Under the guidance of conductor Mr Leslie Tan, the Ensemble is known for playing a variety of music from violin concertos to film music; music by composers from Tchaikovsky to Kelly Tang.
The Ensemble prides itself in collaborating with other instrumental groups in the school, such as the Band and the Choir. It also enjoys engaging with other young musicians and as well as members of the community.

2025 CCA Experience
2025 was a year of growth and achievement for the Ensemble. We were honoured to receive the Certificate of Distinction at the Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation, made even more meaningful as we performed without a conductor, entirely from memory, relying on cues and attentive listening. Our repertoire included a work by local composer Dr. Jonathan Shin, and we had the privilege of working with him to deepen our understanding of his music.
We also performed for Honours Day, at the SC Performing Arts Festival, alongside our little sisters from the SC Primary String Ensemble, and were invited to perform at the Ministry of Transport’s National Day Observance Ceremony at Marina South Pier. Our collaboration with Dazhong Primary School continued, allowing members to hone their confidence and communication skills. Another highlight was performing at the Secondary 4 Prom as a heartfelt gesture of appreciation for our seniors before their graduation.
