String Ensemble
The aim of the String Ensemble is to make music together at the highest level possible. Under the guidance of conductor Mr Leslie Tan, the Ensemble is known for playing a variety of music from violin concertos to film music; music by composers from Tchaikovsky to Kelly Tang.
The Ensemble prides itself in collaborating with other instrumental groups in the school, such as the Band and the Choir. It also enjoys engaging with other young musicians and as well as members of the community.
The String Ensemble rehearses on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1515-1815.

2023 CCA Experience
2023 was a year of growth for the Ensemble with many firsts, from exchanges with other schools to performance opportunities.
For the first time, the Ensemble hosted an exchange with CHIJ St Nicholas Girls’ School and partnered with Dazhong Primary School to mentor their Junior Orchestra.
The Ensemble also performed for various school events like Honours Day and Open House, exploring various repertoire, from classical pieces to pop songs, of which one, was an original arrangement made by our own member. We also collaborated with two other CCAs, Handbells and Band during Performing Arts Festival, as well as Teachers’ Day, which was led by our newly minted student conductor.
In addition, the Ensemble participated in the SYF Arts Presentation 2023, attaining a distinction. We also had the privilege to perform for one of the school’s stakeholders, SBS Transit, for its 50th Anniversary.
